Washington, DC, Oct. 10, 2022 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) today named three 2022 recipients of its annual Dr. Tony Kern Professionalism in Aviation Award, which honors individuals in the business aviation industry for outstanding professionalism and leadership in support of aviation safety.
The 2022 Kern Award winners are:
- Chandra Dusseault, Solairus Aviation
- Morgan Bonde, Adobe, Inc
- Kodey Bogart, KB Solutions
“NBAA is honored to recognize these individuals who embody the ideals outlined in Dr. Kern’s Integrated Model of Professionalism,” said Mark Larsen, CAM, NBAA director of safety and flight operations. “Their dedication to excellence and their desire to promote safety in business aviation is inspiring for all in the industry.”
The awards will be presented during the “Leadership Perspectives on Aviation Safety” session of the NBAA National Safety Forum on Thursday, Oct. 20, held in conjunction with the NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE), which runs Oct. 18-20 in Orlando, FL. This year’s forum returns in an expanded format that now takes place throughout the convention week. It will focus on the top four preventable accident categories: loss-of-control inflight, runway excursions, controlled flight into terrain and ground operations and maintenance accidents, as well as supporting aviation mental health and effectively scaling safety management systems.
Created in 2015 to honor Dr. Kern, a co-founder of Convergent Performance, distinguished U.S. Air Force veteran and author of five books on human performance, this peer-nominated award recognizes individual pilots, maintenance technicians, flight attendants, dispatchers and other aviation professionals who excel in leadership in the following areas:
- Professional ethics
- Vocational excellence
- Continuous improvement
- Professional engagement
- Professional image
- Selflessness
The nominations are vetted by a panel of NBAA Safety Committee members.
