Washington, DC, September 11, 2002 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) and The NORDAM Group today announced they will offer the 2003 NORDAM Dee Howard/Etienne Fage Scholarship to encourage students who are pursuing education in the fields of aerospace engineering and aeronautical systems maintenance engineering.
The NORDAM Dee Howard/Etienne Fage Scholarship was created by The NORDAM Group to honor the lifetime achievements of two aerospace engineering pioneers, Dee Howard and Etienne Fage, and will be administered by NBAA. NORDAM has been a world leader in aircraft component manufacturing and repair since 1969.
This annual scholarship, worth $2,500, will be awarded to an undergraduate who is officially enrolled full-time as an aerospace engineering or aeronautical systems maintenance engineering major at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The award will be made to a U.S. citizen in financial need without regard to sex, race, religion, or national origin. The scholarship will be presented annually at the NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention and will be awarded for the first time at the NBAA 56th Annual Meeting & Convention, to be held from October 7 to 9, 2003, in Orlando, FL. It will be redeemable under the conditions established by NBAA and The NORDAM Group, and checks will be made payable to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
To be eligible for the 2003 NORDAM Dee Howard/Etienne Fage Scholarship, the applicant must be an undergraduate sophomore, junior or senior in the 2003–2003 academic year and have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale. Proof of enrollment must be provided prior to distribution of the award, and application forms must be accompanied by:
- An official transcript from Embry-Riddle
- A 250-word, typed, double-spaced essay describing the applicant’s goals for a career in the aviation industry
- A letter of recommendation from a member of the faculty at Embry-Riddle
- A resume.
