Washington, DC, July 18, 2002 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) applauds the nomination of National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chairman Marion C. Blakey as FAA Administrator.

Blakey’s significant experience with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Department of Transportation and the NTSB make her an excellent candidate for the challenging role of FAA Administrator,” said NBAA President Jack Olcott. “Her leadership and communications skills will prove valuable to the FAA and the entire aviation community in this important role.”

We hope Congress will approve her nomination as quickly as possible to maintain strong and effective leadership of this critical agency,” added Olcott.

NBAA is confident that Blakey will continue the longstanding and effective interaction between the business aviation community and the FAA,” noted Olcott. “We look forward to working with her to address the challenges and opportunities of the aviation community during this new era.”

NBAA represents the aviation interests of more than 7,100 companies which own or operate general aviation aircraft as an aid to the conduct of their business, or are involved with business aviation. NBAA Member Companies earn annual revenues approaching $5 trillion — a number that is about half the gross domestic product — and employ more than 19 million people worldwide. The NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention is the world’s largest display of civil aviation products and services.
