NBAA Awards $25,000 in Scholarship Funds to Seven Schedulers and Dispatchers During 12th Annual Conference

Washington, DC, March 12, 2001 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) awarded $25,000 in scholarship funds to seven recipients at the 12th Annual Schedulers & Dispatchers Conference, held January 31 to February 2 in Nashville.

The 2001 Schedulers & Dispatchers Scholarships were made possible by the generous support of sponsors ExxonMobil and the Avitats, Signature Flight Support, Million Air, Air Routing International and Universal Weather & Aviation. NBAA is proud to announce that these sponsors will offer a total of $25,000 in scholarship awards again in 2002.

This year’s scholarship winners are:

• Danny Blitz of KaiserAir in Oakland, CA, who received a scholarship to take a distance-learning course so that she can obtain a dispatcher’s license.
• Mary Carroll Cannon of Atlanta-based Epps Aviation, who received a grant to obtain her instrument rating.
• Anita Daugherty from Sanderson Farms in Laurel, MS, who was given money so she could attend the NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers Conference.
• Dwayne Day of Jeppesen DataPlan in Los Gatos, CA, who received financial assistance to pay for courses he is taking at Embry-Riddle in pursuit of his Master’s in aeronautical science.
• Anthony Fernandez from Elite Aviation in Van Nuys, CA, who received money to help pay for courses he is taking in his quest to earn a B.S. in aeronautics.
• Jeffrey Hart from Cleveland-based Flight Options, who is using his scholarship money to obtain a dispatch license and attend one of NBAA’s Schedulers Professional Development Program (SPDP) course.
• Patricia Jameson of Owens Corning in Swanton, OH, who is using her grant to help pay for courses that are expected to lead to her receiving a degree in business administration.

Since the scholarship program’s inception in 1997, the NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers Committee has awarded more than $70,000 in awards to 21 individuals.

The Committee welcomes applications from those who wish to further their aviation training or education in business aviation scheduling and dispatching. Award recipients will be recognized at the 13th Annual Schedulers & Dispatchers Conference in Orlando, FL on January 13 to 15, 2002.
