NBAA Marks Passing of Former Board Member David Sheehan

Washington, DC, January 11, 2010 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) recently marked the passing of David Sheehan, a business aviation veteran with thousands of hours of flight experience, a former NBAA Board Member and also a Regional Representative for the Association.

“David was a tremendous asset to the business aviation community,” said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. “His dedication and countless hours in service to the betterment of our industry will not be forgotten.”

Sheehan served on NBAA’s Board of Directors from 1989 to 1996, during which time he held the positions of Treasurer and Vice Chairman of the Board. Sheehan worked in the flight department for Mobil Oil Corp. for 31 years, ultimately attaining the position of General Manager of Corporate Aviation before retiring in 1996 to pursue other business interests in the Asia. Sheehan was coaxed out of retirement to serve for a short time as NBAA’s Regional Representative for the Southeastern U.S.

Sheehan joined the U.S. Air Force in 1955 and he was stationed at Cannon Air Force Base, NM, and in Germany as an officer in the 50th and 522nd Tactical Fighter Wings. He married Captain Mida Page of Santa Rosa in 1961 and left the Air Force to pursue a career in business aviation.

A funeral service was held for Sheehan on January 9 near his Santa Rosa, NM home. He is survived by his wife, Mida Sheehan of Haymarket, VA; three daughters, Mariquita and husband Patrick Goggin of Eagle River, WI, Heidi and husband Bill Ruscher, Deidre and husband Robin Kelly of Ringoes, NJ; a son Sean and his wife Heather Sheehan of Wilmington, NC; fivegrandchildren: Bryce, Addison, Caroline, and Owen Sheehan, and Angus Ruscher. Also surviving is a sister Nancy McAdams of Cape Cod, MA; along with several nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
