Washington, DC, August 16, 2004 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) announces that astronaut Neil Armstrong and test pilot Scott A. Crossfield will present the 2nd Annual Harry B. Combs Award during the Opening General Session of the NBAA 57th Annual Meeting & Convention on Tuesday, October 12 in Las Vegas, NV.

Armstrong, the first man to set foot on the surface of the moon, and Crossfield, the first to fly both Mach 2 and Mach 3, will present the Combs Award to a recipient who will be announced next month by the National Aviation Hall of Fame (NAHF).

Through the Combs Award, the NAHF annually presents $20,000 to an individual or group completing a project that advances the promotion or preservation of America’s air and space heritage, with special emphasis on the individual pioneers who defined America’s aerospace horizons. The award is named in honor of the late Harry B. Combs, a 1996 National Aviation Hall of Fame enshrinee who was a significant force in civil aviation.

“NBAA and the National Aviation Hall of Fame have developed a strong relationship to promote aviation and to recognize the many individuals who have advanced its interests, especially in the area of business transportation,” said Joe Ponte, NBAA’s vice president of membership, marketing & regional programs. “It is most appropriate that the Combs Award be presented at the NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention. Harry was one of business aviation’s most dynamic and innovative leaders.”
