NBAA Names James S. Waugh as New Associate Member Advisory Council Vice Chairman

Washington, DC, February 5, 2001 – James S. Waugh has been named Vice Chairman of the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Associate Member Advisory Council (AMAC), which advises the NBAA Board of Directors on areas of interest to the NBAA Associate Membership. As AMAC Vice Chairman, he also is a Voting Member of the NBAA Board of Directors.

Previously as an AMAC participant, Waugh chaired the AMAC Education Committee and led the initiative to develop the NBAA AvKids Program, which teaches elementary school students about business aviation and includes a Web site at www.avkids.com.

Waugh is vice president, marketing of FlightSafety International, Inc. He joined FlightSafety as director, marketing in 1976 and became vice president in 1979. FlightSafety has experienced significant growth during his tenure. He is responsible for developing the marketing and sales organization, advertising and communications programs, and government contract business. Revenues have grown approximately 31 times, while Learning Centers, which numbered 16 in 1976, now number over 40.

A native of Huntington, WV and raised in Miami, FL, Waugh is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry. An ROTC distinguished military graduate, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve as a battalion surgeon assistant, receiving an honorable discharge as captain. He also is a commercial, multi-engine, instrument-rated pilot and a graduate of Harvard Business School’s strategic marketing management program.

Waugh is a member of the Board of Directors of FlightSafety Boeing, a member of the Board of Directors and treasurer of Flight Safety Foundation, and secretary of the Wings Club in New York. For more than 10 years, he has served as co-chairman of the Aviation Symposium at the Risk Insurance Management Society annual meetings.
