WASHINGTON, DC, December 28, 2005 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) today announced 14 individuals who have successfully passed the Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) Examination. This was the result of three examinations administered in 2005. Through the certification process, NBAA and the Certified Aviation Manager Governing Board (CAMGB) seek to raise the level of professionalism and quality of management within flight departments.
The CAMGB recognizes the newest Certified Aviation Managers:

- T. James Buchanan, SBC Communications Inc., San Antonio, TX
- Phillip Duffy, Altria Corporate Services Inc., Milwaukee, WI
- Wendi Gavigan, Citigroup Corporate Aviation, White Plains, NY
- Richard Hoesli, The Marmon Group, Inc., Chicago, IL
- Dennis Jones, CSX Corporation, Jacksonville, FL
- William G. Kuester, Air Eagle, Detroit, MI
- Richard Michaels, CIGNA, Windsor Locks, CT
- James R. Mrkacek, GROWMARK, Inc., Bloomington, IL
- Scott C. Nichols, Kansas State University, Salina, KS
- Blair T. Robson, ExxonMobil Aviation Services, Plano, TX

- Steven E. Stombaugh, State of Indiana-Aviation Division, Indianapolis, IN
“NBAA congratulates these CAMs on their achievement,” said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. “Through the successful completion of the certification process, these individuals have proven their knowledge and management skills to both their employers and the business aviation community.”
These individuals have earned the official title of Certified Aviation Manager and may use that designation when officially listing their name. They also have earned industry recognition of their experience and knowledge within business aviation.
To prepare for the CAM designation, they met or exceeded minimum qualifications based upon experience, training and education. They completed both a formal application process and the CAM Exam, which in 2005 was offered three times, in conjunction with the NBAA Leadership Conference, NBAA Maintenance Management Conference and NBAA 58th Annual Meeting & Convention.
With these 14 additions, a total of 62 individuals have passed the exam and are designated as CAMs. Past successes indicate a passing rate of 75 percent of the candidates who have completed the exam.
Upcoming CAM Exams will be administered on the following dates in 2006:
- February 24 in Dallas, TX, in conjunction with the NBAA Leadership Conference
- April 20 in Dallas, TX, in conjunction with the NBAA Maintenance Management Conference
- October 16 in Orlando, FL, in conjunction with the NBAA 59th Annual Meeting & Convention
To qualify for the exam, completed applications must be received by NBAA 45 days before the scheduled examination date. For example, to qualify to take the February 24 exam, NBAA must receive the application by January 10.
