Washington, DC, Jan. 17, 2014 – Harry Houckes, NBAA’s Southeastern regional representative, and one of the founding leaders of the Association’s regional representative program, has announced his decision to retire on Feb.12, after more than 12 years of distinguished service to the Association and its members.

Harry HouckesHouckes has skillfully represented the interests of NBAA members in Alabama, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia since he joined the Association in September 2001.

“For more than a decade, NBAA Members have relied on Harry Houckes as a go-to source for effective representation on the issues in their states and regions, and he has always delivered,” said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. “Harry leaves a legacy of service to our Members, and while his contributions will be missed, we wish him well in his future endeavors.”

As a former manager of a flight department, Houckes brought an important, first-hand industry perspective to what was at the time a fledgling regional representative program at NBAA. Houckes’s impressive background includes a long tenure with Mobil’s flight department from 1976 until 1995; he also worked with FlightSafety International in Savannah, GA as center manager, and was director of aviation with Bank One in Columbus, OH.

Houckes is type-rated in eight aircraft, including the Gulfstream GV and Boeing 707/720. He received his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and earned his wings in the United States Air Force as a Boeing KC-135 pilot.

“Harry has had a long and distinguished aviation career, and we at NBAA have been fortunate to have had his expertise and leadership in the regional representation program,” said Steve Hadley, regional program director and Southwestern regional representative for NBAA. “We thank him for his dedicated efforts on behalf of business aviation.”
