Washington, DC, September 28, 2009 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) will offer a webinar to help companies prepare for the impact of the H1N1 influenza, or swine flu, from 2:00-3:30 p.m. on October 1.

Aircraft provide confined workspaces for a duration of time, and global business opportunities may require international travel to areas where the H1N1 impact may vary in severity. NBAA’s webinar, Pandemic Planning & Employment Issues, will help address health concerns in business aviation for operations personnel and managers involved with company and customer safety. The webinar will be presented by Dr. Paulo Alves, MedAire vice president of aviation and maritime health worldwide and Greg Ripple, an attorney with NBAA Member Company Miller-Johnson.

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines the H1N1 pandemic as a worldwide epidemic of a disease. According to the WHO website, H1N1 has been classified as being of moderate global severity. Individual countries may encounter different levels of impact with H1N1, different timing of outbreaks and different impacts on the economies and health systems.

“Employers and employees should know how to respond to legal workplace issues, should they have cases of exposure or outbreak,” said Jo Damato, NBAA director of operations and educational development. “Dr. Alves will discuss the medical facts about H1N1 and Greg Ripple will give a comprehensive legal perspective. It is also important that companies operating internationally recognize the potential health risks and plan accordingly to prevent being negatively impacted by the virus.”
