NBAA Unveils New eMarket Service for the Business Aviation Community

Washington, DC, May 31, 2000 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) is proud to announce the debut of eMarket, a new Web-based Member service that allows Association Members to post, at no charge, commercial messages of interest to the business aviation community. Using NBAA eMarket, vendors can post business aviation goods and services for sale and operators can post business aviation items wanted. Listings must be relevant to business aviation professionals and items must be priced at more than $5,000 in value. Categories for listings include aircraft, engines, maintenance, overhaul/repair, training, avionics, contract services, consulting/management services, contract fuel and aircraft parts. Although only NBAA Members can post eMarket listings, anyone can review the listings on NBAA’s Web site.

While use of eMarket is entirely free, NBAA nonetheless encourages sellers who successfully conclude transactions through eMarket to consider making a tax-deductible donation to NBAA’s BASIC Fund, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that supports business aviation educational programs.

A key component of the BASIC Fund’s educational activities is the conduct of the Operation Heritage program. The goal of Operation Heritage is to raise by October 12, 2000, a minimum of $1 million for the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum’s new facility at Dulles International Airport near Washington DC. The Dulles Facility, scheduled to open on December 17, 2003, on the 100th anniversary of powered flight, will house a permanent business aviation exhibit. You can visit NBAA eMarket at In the coming weeks, eMarket will evolve to include easier sorting within categories and broader applicability to a wider range of business aviation products and services.

NBAA represents the aviation interests of over 6,100 companies which own or operate general aviation aircraft as an aid to the conduct of their business, or are involved with business aviation. NBAA Member Companies earn annual revenues approaching $5 trillion — a number that is about half the gross domestic product — and employ more than 19 million people worldwide. The NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention is the world’s largest display of civil aviation products and services.
