Washington, DC, March 29, 2012 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) issued the following statement after the White House announced that President Obama has nominated Acting Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) chief Michael Huerta to a full five-year term in the position. His nomination must be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

“In his work at the FAA, Michael Huerta has demonstrated strong leadership and a solid understanding of the industry’s priorities, including the need for continued transformation to a Next Generation Air Traffic Control System, which will produce safety and efficiency gains in America’s aviation system,” said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. “We urge the Senate to move quickly to confirm his nomination as FAA Administrator.”

Before serving as Acting FAA Administrator, Huerta served as Deputy Administrator under then-Administrator Randy Babbitt. He also served in the Department of Transportation during the Clinton Administration, and has held positions in the private sector.
