Washington, DC, October 5, 2001 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) is pleased to announce the addition of Harry Houckes, NBAA’s newest Regional Representative, to its Professional Staff.

Houckes, based near Warrenton, VA, will represent business aviation communities in the southeast portion of the United States. His territory includes Alabama, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. He joined the Association on September 10.

Houckes’ impressive background makes him a key addition to NBAA’s Staff. He worked for Mobil Flight Department from 1976 to 1995; had stints with Flight Safety International in Savannah as center manager and Bank One in Columbus, OH as director of aviation; and is type-rated in eight airplanes, including the GV and B-707/720. In addition, Houckes received his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and earned his wings in the United States Air Force as a KC-135 pilot.

NBAA Vice President, Membership Joe Ponte noted, “With his energy and experience, Harry brings a new dimension to the NBAA Regional Representative program – the perspective of someone who has worked in and managed a business aviation flight department.

With the addition of Houckes, NBAA now employs five Staff members who act as representatives for various regions of the United States and are based outside of Washington Headquarters. The Association’s Regional Representative Program was established primarily to build local, long-term relationships with NBAA Member Companies across the country; to facilitate and encourage communications from each region to NBAA Headquarters in Washington; to establish a tactical arm of NBAA to show the impact of local issues on Members Companies; and to apply regional input as an important element for development of NBAA’s overall short-and long-term strategies.

NBAA represents the aviation interests of over 6,800 companies which own or operate general aviation aircraft as an aid to the conduct of their business, or are involved with business aviation. NBAA Member Companies earn annual revenues approaching $5 trillion — a number that is about half the gross domestic product — and employ more than 19 million people worldwide. The NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention is the world’s largest display of civil aviation products and services.
