Washington, DC, January 25, 2005 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) today welcomed an announcement made yesterday that President Bush intends to nominate Michael Jackson as Deputy Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

“Michael Jackson is experienced and effective, and the President has made an excellent choice,” said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. “At DOT, Michael showed he understands that security policies must take into consideration economic realities and individual freedoms. In helping establish the Transportation Security Administration, Michael proved himself to be a thorough and thoughtful executive. We look forward to his confirmation.”

Jackson’s nomination was announced yesterday in a White House press release. He has been employed in a private-sector capacity for the past year; from 2001 to 2003, he served as Deputy Secretary of Transportation at the Department of Transportation.
