Washington, DC, Oct. 26, 2016 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) is pleased to announce that political strategists James Carville and Mary Matalin will be special guests at the 2016 NBAA/Corporate Angel Network (CAN) Soiree, a charity fundraising event to be held on Nov. 2, during NBAA’s annual Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) in Orlando, FL.

The political power couple – who will also be featured speakers at the convention’s Second-Day General Session – will meet and mingle with Soiree attendees during a pre-event reception, then offer remarks during the evening’s dinner and live auction.

“As most people know, James Carville and Mary Matalin have been key players on opposing sides of the political arena for more than 30 years,” said NBAA Senior Vice President of Conventions and Membership Chris Strong. “But at the Soiree, their interest will be not on what separates people, but rather how efforts, such as the Corporate Angel Network, bring people together for a common good.”

CAN Executive Director Gina Russo agreed, adding: “While many of us have different points of view, what universally binds us is a desire to help our loved ones access the best possible care when they are ill. We are thrilled that James Carville and Mary Matalin will be joining us at the NBAA/CAN Soiree, as the live and silent auctions are a major fundraiser for Corporate Angel Network. The support we receive from the event is essential in helping with our ongoing work to bring cancer patients closer to their cure.”

In recent years, the NBAA/CAN Soiree has raised around $500,000 to support the organization’s life-saving work.

Founded in 1981, CAN is the only charitable organization in the United States whose sole mission is to help cancer patients get the best treatment possible by arranging free travel using empty seats on business aircraft flights. More than 500 companies have flown more than 50,000 cancer patients since CAN was founded, and the total continues to grow by an average of 225 a month.

The NBAA/CAN Soiree begins at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, in the Orlando Ballroom at the Hilton Orlando. The event includes a live and silent auction to raise money for CAN’s efforts, and includes entertainment by DJPopRoXxX.
