Security Alert, Code Orange Alert Issued by Office of Homeland Security

Washington, DC, September 10, 2002 – A Code Orange (High) terrorist alert has been issued by the Office of Homeland Security in response to intelligence received from overseas related to threats on targets in Asia.

All Members are encouraged to intensify their existing security measures, including being alert for any suspicious activity in or around their airport and exercising particular caution in flight operations so as to avoid infringing upon TFRs.

All TFRs remain in effect as published. No new TFRs are anticipated at this time.

All waivers applicable to sporting/open air events have been rescinded until further notice.

It is anticipated that security activities around commercial airports will be more visible.
