Registration is now open for the 2024/2025 season of NBAA’s successful Mentoring Network, providing business aviation professionals at every stage of their career an opportunity to expand their industry knowledge, build new relationships and share their own experiences and insights.
“NBAA is proud to host our Mentoring Network. Now in its seventh year, this program shines a light on the best attributes of our community: its warmth, its support and its openness to sharing knowledge with like-minded professionals,” said Noah Yarborough, NBAA operations manager of the program.
“As a participant, learning about different aspects of the industry has helped me grow in my own job, and the new friendships I’ve made will have a lasting impact on my career. I’d say that everyone at any stage in their career could benefit from being a mentee or mentor,” Yarborough added.
Registration to the free NBAA Mentoring Network is easy. After logging into your NBAA account at the Mentoring Network landing page, you can register as a mentor or mentee and create a profile. Mentees can then search the mentor profiles and pick the appropriate candidate. Mentors can then accept the request.
To ensure the program provides value to its participants, each mentee can choose a maximum of two mentors, and each mentor can accept two mentees. NBAA provides mentors with resources to help them throughout the program.
“Everyone can be a mentor or a mentee. In fact, over the past seven years, we’ve found that people gain a fuller, richer experience by being both a mentor and a mentee,” said Yarborough.
Ian Lumpp, co-chair of NBAA’s Young Professionals Council, can attest to the benefits of being a mentee and mentor. “The NBAA Mentoring Network connected me with mentors that taught me so much about this industry and helped me develop a management style that was really effective for my team and me,” he said.
“These mentors are still an important part of my life today, and in the spirit of giving back, a few years ago, I signed up as a mentor as well as a mentee,” Lumpp added. “This has been a great experience as I continue to learn more about business aviation from veterans and newcomers alike while sharing insights from my part of the industry. It’s a very fulfilling experience.”
