Personnel Considerations
The Leadership Objective focuses on management issues issues related to vision, strategic planning, team building, decision making, communication and currency with professional knowledge.
The following NBAA Professional Development Program (PDP) objectives were adopted July 1, 2024.

L1: Facilitate the strategic direction of the aviation department

  1. Recognize the elements of the overall organization vision, mission and/or values statements
  2. Manage the aviation department vision, mission and/or values statements
  3. Align the aviation department with the overall organization vision, mission and/or values statements
  4. Identify components of goal setting
  5. Develop department goals
  6. Evaluate goal performance

L2: Exercise effective leadership

  1. Recognize leadership theories and traits of an effective leader
  2. Apply motivational theories and techniques
  3. Apply mentoring strategies
  4. Recognize sources of expertise within the department, organization, and industry
  5. Assemble teams and manage group dynamics
  6. Demonstrate the ability to manage diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization

  9. Recognize principles of emotional intelligence
  10. Employ strategies to increase professional expertise

L3: Employ change management principles

  1. Recognize changes in the business climate and organization business plan
  2. Advocate for change to evolve the aviation department
  3. Formulate plans to manage the aviation department through a crisis
  4. Manage a network of support contacts
