How long does the program take to complete?

The certificate program cycle is designed to take place over a six-week period (one module per week), though participants will have six months to complete the course and pass the final exam. As an asynchronous course, participants will have the ability to move through the program at their preferred pace, and therefore take the exam whenever they are ready. Participants can anticipate each module taking roughly several hours to complete, though some modules have more content than others.

Participants must complete the course within their six-month window.

How do I register for the program?

Participants must register themselves for the program through the NBAA On-Demand Learning Center. Register now.

What if I don’t complete the course within six months?

If a participant does not complete the modules and final exam within six months of purchasing, they will need to purchase the course again. NBAA highly recommends participants only complete the course once they have the bandwidth to complete it.

Registrants who are unable to complete the program during their six-month subscription will have the option to extend their access for another six months. This extension will cost $275 for NBAA members and $350 for non-members.

What recognition do I receive for earning my certificate?

Participants who complete the course earn NBAA recognition as an individual with a foundational understanding of key aspects of an organization’s safety management efforts and safety management systems. After passing the final exam, participants will be issued a digital certificate and badge, which can be shared on social media and in other online locations.

How long is the certificate valid?

Your Safety Manager Certificate is valid indefinitely.

What is required to pass the final exam?

The final exam requires a passing score of 85% (77 out of 90 questions). The final exam can be taken at any time throughout the program, after all learning modules and quizzes have been completed. Participants have three attempts to pass the exam.

Does the course count towards CAM credit?

The Safety Manager Certificate is approved for CAM credit. Those that complete the course and pass the final assessment will be awarded four points towards their CAM application or CAM recertification.
