This experience helped him develop many skills that would assist him in a transition to a team environment that values the safety of its passengers and aircraft, and an environment that would challenge him in to learn many new skills in addition to turning a wrench.
“We all value the mission, but I have also learned to treat the aircraft that I maintain as if I am the owner,” said Melcher. “Aviation is a small world. You get to know everyone in it and you lean on each other to get the job done.”
