James Peter (JP) Stewart

Connect on LinkedInJames “JP” Stewart is responsible for all aspects of Electra’s operations, previously serving as director of programs. Before Electra, he led development of an eVTOL aircraft for Porsche as senior technical program manager at Boeing’s Aurora Flight Sciences. An aerospace engineer who studied at Virginia Tech, Stewart began his career in UAS, founding a company through the Yale Entrepreneurial Institute to collect and process aerial imagery of farms for precision agriculture.
When he’s not working, Stewart is an active pilot and instructor, flying powered aircraft and sailplanes. He learned to fly sailplanes at the Blue Ridge Soaring Society and has flown more than 620 miles for more than 8 hours in a single flight, achieving a maximum altitude of 17,835 feet – all without an engine. He has also represented the U.S. Soaring Team four times in the World Championships.
