Early in his career, a close friend connected him with an opportunity to restore and work on GA airplanes to gain experience that would count toward his A&P license. He went on to work at Gulfstream initially and then later accepted an opportunity to work in maintenance at Qualcomm. There, he was able to continue his flying education and earn a G650 type rating with the support of his leadership team.
“One of the things I love most about working in business aviation is that we’re often required to wear many hats,” says Hefner. “We might be a mechanic or a pilot, but we’re also safety managers and training managers. The team I’m on now feels like the family-owned business I grew up in, where everyone is always willing to help an up-and-comer.”
