Aviation has been part of Amanda Ochs’ life for as long as she can remember – her dad founded Spirit Aeronautics in 2001. She always planned to work at Spirit, joining the company full time in 2016. Since then, Ochs has had the opportunity to wear almost every hat at the company. She identifies areas that need to be refined or improved, then works to solve those problems and trains others to maintain those solutions. Each role has added to Ochs’ rounded and holistic understanding of the company and industry.
“I believe aviation is one of the last holdouts of the small business American dream,” said Ochs. “People who are looking for a role with upward potential, autonomy and the ability to make positive changes should consider working in the small-to-medium business space. There are some drawbacks to working at smaller shops – namely, resource constraints – but the benefits far outweigh them.”
