Airport Business
Cole Hartfiel
Senior Airport Planner
Sacramento County Department of Airports
Cole Hartfiel’s family has a rich history in aviation, with his dad being a pilot and his mom and two grandfathers also working in the aviation industry. Hartfiel originally studied economics at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where he learned about the wider world of business aviation – specifically airport planning. A chance encounter at an industry meeting opened a door to working for a system of airports, eventually leading to a role as an airport planner at California’s Sacramento County Department of Airports.
“As an airport planner, I’m fortunate to work with all sectors of aviation to ensure we’re providing the best facilities possible to encourage community development. When I look at our four airports, I’m constantly considering how users of all kinds could plant themselves at our airfields,” said Hartfiel. “My desire to make something better today does not waver.”
