Joe Toomey’s aviation journey began at Kent State University, where he discovered his passion for business aviation. Next, Toomey honed his skills as a civilian flight instructor for the military before moving to business jets. Today, as director of training at Clay Lacy Aviation, Toomey drives innovation by modernizing pilot training and helping to shape the future through FAA and industry working groups. As a proud U.S. Coast Guard Reservist, he champions the transition of military veterans into civilian aviation careers through the HigherVets program.
“I’m driven by a deep passion to make this industry better for everyone,” said Toomey. “Training should evolve as fast as the world around us; be more responsive, more effective and, above all, safer. My mission is to help create that transformation. I want the next generation of rising stars, those coming from the military and collegiate routes, to see the incredible opportunities waiting in business aviation.”
