Sierra Marie Curtis was a flight instructor at California’s Long Beach Airport (LGB) when she connected with a business aircraft flight operation that needed a copilot. There, mentors gave her the opportunity to fly the Beechcraft King Air 350 and Cessna Citation 500 series, and she began working part time at Flight Safety International. Curtis continues to work there as part of the Gulfstream G650 program. She says her career arc is partly the result of the small and supportive nature of business aviation.

“I find it very rewarding to have a hand in the entire process of getting the aircraft from A to B,” Curtis said. “Each trip presents its own set of challenges and I genuinely enjoy the problem solving, coordination and teamwork that goes into making it all happen. Building strong relationships with passengers and coworkers along the way makes it even more fulfilling – and the chance to travel the world is the cherry on top.”
