Washington, DC, July 24, 2003 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) is pleased to announce that the NBAA AvKids web site has been selected as a “Best Bet” on the USA TODAY Education web site for the week of August 22 to 29, 2003.

Each week the USA TODAY Education online staff selects three “Best Bets” sites they feel would be of educational value to their audience of subscribers and guests. These sites are listed on the USA TODAY Education home page for a one-week period with a brief description and a link to the site. Fewer than 150 sites are selected each year as USA TODAY Education “Best Bet” web sites.

AvKids (Aviation for Kids) is a program designed to educate elementary school students about the benefits of business aviation to the community and the career opportunities available to them in the business aviation industry. The heart of the AvKids Program is www.avkids.com, a web site containing challenging and fun activities for children and free resources for teachers and those interested in making career-day presentations at elementary schools.

A key resource for educators is the AvKids Activity Guide and Teacher’s Resource, an elementary-school classroom reference that incorporates science, math, geography and language arts skills to help students in grades 2 through 5 understand aviation, particularly business aviation, and meets the National Standards of Learning. This publication is available in a sturdy three-ring binder format upon request from NBAA or online as a portable document format (PDF) file download from the AvKids web site. More than 25,000 AvKids Activity Guides have been downloaded from the site since the publication’s debut in 2000.
