Strong Participation Reported for CAM Job Analysis Survey Ensures Continued Member Value Oct. 2, 2015
Participation in NBAA’s Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) program’s job analysis survey was strong, ensuring that Member input will continue to help shape the program and maintain its accreditation, said Jay Evans, CAM, NBAA’s director of professional development. Recently, NBAA reached out to more than 8,000 industry members, including current CAMs and other aviation managers, and asked for their input. The survey’s responses, which will be held in confidence, are necessary for maintaining accreditation from the National Commission for Certifying Agencies. The current accreditation lasts through October 2018, and the program must file annual reports that include all of its testing data.
NBAA Urges Participation in Certified Aviation Manager Job Analysis Survey July 1, 2015
NBAA has launched a job analysis survey for the Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) program, inviting aviation professionals to take part in the survey. More than 9,000 contacts – including current CAM holders and other individuals identified as aviation managers – have received an email invitation with a link to participate in the survey. “This is an opportunity for participants to share their opinions on the role of the CAM,” said Dana Anderson-Pancoe, associate director of research and development at Schroeder Measurement Technologies, Inc., the company managing the survey on NBAA’s behalf. “NBAA and the CAM Governing Board don’t determine CAM qualifications unilaterally. This survey helps the Association and board clearly understand the role of the CAM, especially as it changes over time.”

In June 2014, the highly detailed CAM job analysis will begin the revision process that will lead to new educational and testing criteria in the near future.

For NBAA's Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) program to earn accreditation, it had to meet certain standards, including having a "public member" on the CAM Governing Board. The board actually has included a public member for the last several years, and Brad Baker, chairman of the board at Odyssey Marine Exploration, currently serves in that capacity. While he's not a business aviation professional, Baker is a pilot. He earned his private pilot's license at age 20 and is instrument-rated. In his first career, producing and selling computer software and equipment, he relied on business aviation to reach his customers.

CAM Governing Board Begins Accreditation Process June 13, 2011
The NBAA Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) Governing Board has initiated the process of obtaining National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) accreditation for the CAM Program. “Gaining NCCA accreditation is important to the future of the CAM Program,” said CAM Governing Board Chairman Scott Rose. “It’s not only the sign of a well managed program; it also ensures the program follows best practices established for certification programs across all professions.” There are currently 175 CAMs, who are recognized as qualified professionals to lead flight departments and companies that use business aircraft.
