Safety Remains Atop The Industry’s Agenda
NBAA Focuses on Industry-Leading Safety Programs
The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) views its most important responsibility as advancing business aviation safety and fostering development of industry safety best practices.
Thanks to ongoing commitments to safe operating practices by NBAA and the professionals involved in business flying, the industry has achieved a level of safety comparable to that for the commercial airlines.
However, in spite of the industry’s overall safety record, NBAA believes that even one accident is too many. So, the Association continues to stress business aviation safety by providing a number of accident-prevention resources to operators, and by playing a leading role in business aviation safety conferences – internationally, and at the national, regional, and local levels.
For example, NBAA continues as a cosponsor with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) in Bombardier’s Annual Safety Standdown. In addition, NBAA this year cosponsored the second annual Safety Standdown Europe, held in conjunction with the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition in Geneva, Switzerland. Both of the popular Standdown events showcase the value of knowledge-based training and personal discipline.
NBAA also partners with the Flight Safety Foundation to co-host the Corporate Aviation Safety Seminar (CASS) every Spring. For decades, the CASS has been bringing together industry leaders, government officials, academic researchers and aircraft operators to exchange insights and information about safety and operational best practices.
Together, the Standdowns and the CASS have exposed thousands of people to the latest trends in business aviation safety, management systems, and hazard mitigation, among other important topics. These broader events also have inspired regional groups across the country to provide the same caliber of training to their members locally.
Even though business aviation enjoys an outstanding safety record, NBAA will continue producing and promoting information about the safety best practices that are the hallmarks of the industry, with the goal of making business aviation as safe as possible.
