CAM Exam Format

The CAM exam is offered year-round with two methods of testing available to approved CAM program candidates:

  • In-person at over 1,000 testing centers worldwide
  • Remote-proctored, which allows you to test on the road or at home

Before registering for an exam, CAM applications must be submitted and approved by NBAA at least 45 days prior to testing.

After application approval, payment for the CAM exam must be made at least five business days prior to sitting for CAM exam. Candidates will not be able to view the available testing time slots until the payment is processed.

The computer-based, multiple-choice exam has 175 questions. The exam is three-and-a-half hours long and must be completed in one sitting.

Starting on Dec 1, 2024, there will be some adjustments to the CAM exam format.  The new format will consist of two sections, the exam will be the same number of questions, have the same time limit and will be completed in one sitting.

After completing the questions in the first section, candidates will be able to review/revise answers to any question in this section before hitting submit.  After hitting submit, candidates will not longer be able to access or adjust answers in this section.

After completing the first section candidates will be allowed to take a 10 minute break or move directly into the second section.  Once the candidate completes the second section, they will have the same opportunity to review/revise answers to any questions before hitting submit.  Once the second section has been submitted, the exam is complete.
