No Plane No Gain Ad Highlights Importance of Business Aviation in California

“Business Aviation: Working for California” is the message of a prominent advertisement that the No Plane No Gain advocacy campaign has placed in the annual government handbook of the Valley Industry and Commerce Association (VICA), a group of influential and effective business leaders in Southern California. The No Plane No Gain campaign is jointly sponsored by NBAA and the General Aviation Manufacturers Association.
“The handbook is used by VICA members as a resource guide for contacting their local, state and national elected officials on issues and policies important to their businesses and neighborhoods,” said Stacy Howard, NBAA’s Western regional representative. “The No Plane No Gain message in the ad is direct and simple: business aviation creates jobs and provides opportunities for Southern Californians and throughout the state.”
NBAA is a member of VICA, and Howard attends VICA meetings and events to provide information about general aviation. She also accompanies VICA members during their regular visits to the state capital in Sacramento, where they meet with key legislators.
According to Howard, VICA has an active and effective aviation committee that meets quarterly at Van Nuys Airport (VNY) and supports both Van Nuys and Burbank's Bob Hope Airport (BUR). VICA actively supports aviation legislation and policies that benefit business aviation in its region.
The ad, which shows an employee of Van Nuys-based, family-owned Clay Lacy Aviation working on an aircraft engine, grabs the reader’s attention by noting, “in the San Fernando Valley and across California, business aviation is a vital economic engine, accounting for $18 billion each year.”
The No Plane No Gain message makes clear the connection between the use of an aircraft and the success of many local companies, and the many jobs that aviation brings to the San Fernando Valley and the state of California.
“What it all means is that in California, one thing is clear: No Plane, No Gain,” states the full-page ad.
