Schedulers and Dispatchers Committee Looking Ahead to 2017 Conference

With a theme of “Steer Your Career,” NBAA’s Schedulers & Dispatchers Committee is actively planning education sessions and other events for the 2017 Schedulers & Dispatchers Conference (SDC2017), set for Feb. 7 to 10 at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, TX.
Committee Chairwoman Danielle Gordon, of Pentastar Aviation, said the group is focused on completing the program of education sessions that will be offered at the event.
“Like every year, attendees can expect programming geared toward professional development, but specifically under the ‘Steer Your Career’ umbrella this year, we’re focusing on teamwork, leadership and communication,” Gordon said. “So most of our educational sessions will reflect those themes, in addition to the more technical scheduler and dispatcher-focused offerings.”
SDC2017 was the main focus of the committee when it met this month at NBAA’s Washington, DC headquarters. In addition to planning the conference, the group discussed scholarships, marketing and customer service feedback.
Committee staff liaison Tyler Austin said the meeting was a success, adding that having the committee at headquarters enabled them to interact with staff and discuss industry issues, including a debriefing from President and CEO Ed Bolen on FAA reauthorization.
“It’s always beneficial to have the committees come to DC,” said Austin. “Not only is the face-to-face time hugely productive, but it’s great to have committee members meeting and interacting with NBAA staff who they may not see very often.”
While the committee has regular conference calls, its annual summer planning meeting is essential for laying the groundwork for the year ahead, Gordon noted.
“We do accomplish a great deal through conference calls and emails but meeting several times a year is really critical for us,” she said. “We cram a lot of productivity into just a couple days.”
