A recent cross-country trip to bring a wounded soldier home for Thanksgiving could not have happened without the efforts of the Veterans Airlift Command (VAC) and the generosity of volunteers across the United States. The VAC coordinated transportation for Private First Class Cory Doane, who was badly injured in Afghanistan by a roadside bomb, from his hospital in Bethesda, MD to spend Thanksgiving with his family in Portland, OR. Japan Earthquake: What Should You Know?

Last week’s devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan have left in their wake a host of severe operational and logistical challenges in the area – not only for companies with business airplanes needing to move people and equipment to and from the region, but also for those who want to support humanitarian-relief efforts to help victims in the impacted cities and towns. NBAA’s web site has a “Japan Crisis” resource that provides operational guidance regarding airports and airspace in Japan, as well as information about humanitarian efforts underway. 2011 Industry Forecasts Turn More Positive

Thanks largely to an improved outlook for U.S. economic growth, those watching the business aviation industry also are revising their forecasts, giving them a slightly more positive outlook. They say a turn-around already has started and will accelerate later this year and into 2012. “The economic news as we’ve entered 2011 seems to be gaining momentum, and I think that is reflected in the business aviation community,” NBAA President and CEO Bolen said.
