Naples Airport Authority Defers Enforcement of Stage 2 Ban

Washington, DC, March 21, 2001 – On March 15, the City of Naples Airport Authority in Florida voted to defer enforcement of its Stage 2 ban to July 21, 2001, and to extend all existing Stage 2 waivers until that date. The July 21 date is consistent with the court’s schedule to hear a complaint that the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) instituted against the Authority last December. Since the Authority is required to restart the Federal Aviation Regulation Part 161 review process in order to avoid Federal Aviation Administration sanctions, an extension beyond the July 21 date is possible.

Meanwhile, at NBAA’s request, the Authority has clarified that any warning notices given to operators of non-based Stage 2 aircraft arriving at Naples are for “informational” purposes only.

NBAA represents the aviation interests of over 6,400 companies which own or operate general aviation aircraft as an aid to the conduct of their business, or are involved with business aviation. NBAA Member Companies earn annual revenues approaching $5 trillion — a number that is about half the gross domestic product — and employ more than 19 million people worldwide. The NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention is the world’s largest display of civil aviation products and services.
