Washington, DC, September 12, 2001 – The Board of Directors of the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) has today voted to postpone next week’s Annual Meeting & Convention with a date and format to be determined in order to redirect the Association’s resources toward national recovery and aid to the victims and their families following yesterday’s terrorists attacks. NBAA’s attention is focused on those companies and individuals affected by yesterday’s events.

The Annual Meeting of Members and the meeting of the Board of Directors previously scheduled for September 19 and 20, respectively, will be held in Washington, DC, on a date no earlier than October 17, and no later than November 28, as required by the laws of the District of Columbia and the Association’s Bylaws.

Those trade show functions normally affiliated with the Annual Meeting & Convention, including Informational Sessions, Static Display of Aircraft, Maintenance & Operations Sessions and Convention floor exhibits, will not occur in New Orleans next week or in conjunction with the Washington, DC Board meeting. Additional information will be distributed via Air Mail and NBAA’s Web site at www.nbaa.org as soon as possible.

The Board regrets any inconvenience this may cause but appreciates the support and understanding of the Membership during these extraordinary times.

The Board further directed the Staff to work with appropriate government and private agencies to assess the specific needs of the nation in this time of crisis and determine an appropriate and effective NBAA response to those needs.

NBAA represents the aviation interests of over 6,700 companies which own or operate general aviation aircraft as an aid to the conduct of their business, or are involved with business aviation. NBAA Member Companies earn annual revenues approaching $5 trillion — a number that is about half the gross domestic product — and employ more than 19 million people worldwide. The NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention is the world’s largest display of civil aviation products and services.
