WASHINGTON, DC, January 25, 2008 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) and its Schedulers & Dispatchers (S&D) Committee today announced the recipient of the 2008 Shell Canada Schedulers & Dispatchers Scholarship. A total of $5,000 will be given to Julie Halbauer of R.C.M.P. Air Services. Sponsored by Shell Aviation Canada, the scholarship annually recognizes a Canadian resident seeking to advance his or her aviation career through continuing education.

Halbauer will use her award to attend the NBAA 19th Annual Schedulers & Dispatchers Conference, to be held January 29 to February 1 in Savannah, GA, and to complete an NBAA Schedulers Professional Development Program Course later this year.

The S&D Committee will formally recognize Halbauer next week during the S&D Conference Opening General Session on Thursday, January 31. Applications for the 2009 NBAA Shell Canada Schedulers & Dispatchers Scholarship will be available on the Association’s web site this summer.

NBAA’s S&D Committee offers scholarships through two separate but related programs that specifically promote professional and career development for business aviation schedulers and dispatchers.

Through the Schedulers & Dispatchers Scholarship Program, the Committee offers cash grants, which can be used for a variety of professional development initiatives. Since 1997, more than $300,000 has been awarded to schedulers and dispatchers through this program. In 2005, the program was expanded to provide scholarships specifically to Canadian schedulers and dispatchers.

A separate Schedulers & Dispatchers Training Scholarship Program, initiated in 2004, offers opportunities for scholarship recipients to gain access to hands-on teaching initiatives.
