WASHINGTON, DC, January 30, 2008 – The Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA’s) Air Traffic Organization (ATO) Systems Operations (Sys Ops) business unit of the Air Traffic Control System Command Center (ATSCC) is increasing its presence at the National Business Aviation Association’s (NBAA’s) 19th Annual Schedulers & Dispatchers (S&D) Conference, this week in Savannah, GA.

FAA Sys Ops representatives have been session co-presenters with the NBAA General Aviation (GA) Desk staff at the annual S&D Conference since 2002, and this year have increased their presence to serve as an even greater resource by staffing a booth, in addition to co-presenting a session.

NBAA Director of Air Traffic Services & Infrastructure Bob Lamond emphasized how the relationship between the GA Desk and Sys Ops personnel has grown more integrated since NBAA’s GA Desk was formed in August 2001 at the ATCSCC. “This has been a mutual learning experience on the part of both the FAA and GA Desk specialists, resulting in mutual benefit to FAA Sys Ops and NBAA Members operating in the National Airspace System (NAS).”

FAA Sys Ops representatives will be on-site at booth #755 to answer questions about traffic flow management issues and ways to minimize delays and maximize flight department efficiency. The FAA Sys Ops and NBAA GA Desk staffs will co-present “ATC: NAS Today & Tomorrow,” at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 31 in Room 100/101 of the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center.

As a Member benefit, NBAA staffs a full-time GA Desk at the ATCSCC, where NBAA employees work alongside FAA Sys Ops representatives. These NBAA GA Desk specialists act as business aviation representatives and participate in both real-time national airspace flow-control and decision-making, as well as long-term strategic planning. NBAA GA Desk Manager Ernie Stellings and NBAA GA Desk Specialists Mike Schwab and Jim McClay all are in attendance at this year’s S&D Conference.

FAA Sys Ops representatives next will exhibit at the NBAA 61st Annual Meeting & Convention this year, from Monday October 6 to Wednesday, October 8 in Orlando, FL.
