Washington, DC, January 23, 2013 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) today announced that three individuals have been selected by the Association’s Corporate Aviation Management Committee as recipients of the 2013 Leadership Conference Scholarship.

Each scholarship includes a value equivalent to $1,845 to cover expenses associated with attendance at NBAA’s 2013 Leadership Conference, taking place on Feb. 12 and 13 in Austin, TX. The Leadership Conference is designed for current and future leaders in every facet of the business aviation industry – both aircraft operators and vendors who provide products and services within our industry.

The Leadership Conference Scholarship, now in its ninth year, is sponsored in 2013 by The VanAllen Group and United Technologies. Representatives from each of these companies will be on hand at the NBAA Leadership Conference to recognize this year’s recipients.

This year’s scholarship winners are:

Stacey Kotrla – Kotrla is a standards and training captain with Yum! Brands in Louisville, KY. She plans a career in business aviation and wants to be in management within 10 years. She plans to complete the Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) program within the next two years.

Jessica Miller – A 2012 graduate from St Cloud State University, Miller is now a flight instructor with American Flight Training, LLC in Miami, FL. Her career goal is to fly for and manage a Fortune 500 flight department.

Lisa Pelate – Pelate is a senior aircraft maintenance technician with Whirlpool Aviation in Benton Harbor, MI, and has worked for several other flight departments in maintenance positions. She is interested in obtaining a management position in business aviation and feels the Leadership Conference will help her accomplish this goal.
