Washington, DC, January 5, 2010 –The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), a member of the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC), recently welcomed the 200th registered operator under the International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO).
The International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO), developed by IBAC and its member associations, is a code of best safety practices designed to help flight departments worldwide achieve high levels of safety and professionalism.
“Since 2002, IS-BAO has increasingly been accepted by companies and international governments as the global standard for business aircraft operations. The community’s investment in developing these codes-of –practice has achieved a critical mass of operators able to clearly demonstrate the value of the IS-BAO standard,” said Ed Bolen, NBAA president and CEO. “We expect that even more operators will sign up for IS-BAO registration as additional countries recognize the value of this program to their national safety programs.”
IS-BAO is the only aviation industry code-of-practice recognized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for meeting its Safety Management System (SMS) requirements for both commercial and non-commercial operations. Key to the success of IS-BAO is its scalability allowing single-pilot, single-aircraft operations to develop meaningful safety practices while providing a robust safety network for larger operations.
