Simplified vehicle operations (SVO) offers the potential to assist pilots with all aspects of operating an aircraft. While increased flight deck automation remains a controversial idea to some, GAMA’s Lowell Foster believes the benefits from SVO will ultimately overcome pilot trepidation. “If you can use automation to reduce the workload, it increases the enjoyment of flying,” he said, “[and] you’re going to gradually have a much easier interface, so there’ll be less to learn.”
In today’s episode of NBAA Flight Plan, host Rob Finfrock speaks with:
- Lowell Foster, director for global innovation and engineering, General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA)
- Brad Hayden, Robotic Skies CEO and chair of NBAA’s Emerging Technologies Committee
