Podcast: Simplified Vehicle Operations – Flight Deck of the Future

Aug. 17, 2020

Simplified vehicle operations (SVO) offers the potential to assist pilots with all aspects of operating an aircraft. While increased flight deck automation remains a controversial idea to some, GAMA’s Lowell Foster believes the benefits from SVO will ultimately overcome pilot trepidation. “If you can use automation to reduce the workload, it increases the enjoyment of flying,” he said, “[and] you’re going to gradually have a much easier interface, so there’ll be less to learn.”

In today’s episode of NBAA Flight Plan, host Rob Finfrock speaks with:

  • Lowell Foster, director for global innovation and engineering, General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA)
  • Brad Hayden, Robotic Skies CEO and chair of NBAA’s Emerging Technologies Committee
  • Dustin Kilgore, aviation systems team leader at Garmin
  • Ben Klein, general counsel and head of government affairs for Skyryse

NBAA Flight Plan is sponsored by Whiting Aviation Park, ready to grow your business in Santa Rosa County, FL.
