Washington, DC, April 11, 2022 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) is pleased to announce that Director, Environmental and Technical Operations Stewart D’Leon, CAM, has been invited to join the Board of Directors of the Aerospace Maintenance Council (AMC) and Sierra Grimes, senior manager for government affairs, has been named to the Red Tail Flight Academy Board of Directors.

“NBAA and the industry are fortunate to have leaders such as Stewart and Sierra working on behalf of business aviation,” said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. “We know they will bring knowledge, expertise, professionalism and enthusiasm to the boards upon which they will serve.”

AMC is a non-profit organization that promotes and supports aviation maintenance professionals and raises awareness of the knowledge and skills required to maintain safe, airworthy aircraft. With his three-year appointment, D’Leon will be business aviation’s primary representative on AMC’s new board.

Before joining NBAA, D’Leon worked for 14 years at Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., where he became field service representative at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years before working at Gulfstream.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in professional aeronautics and a master’s degree in aeronautical science, both from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

“Aviation safety has been a central focus of my career, and I am grateful to AMC for this opportunity to provide the business aviation community’s perspective in such a critical forum,” said D’Leon.

The Red Tail Flight Academy promotes the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen through community engagement and mentoring programs that impact youth traditionally underrepresented in aviation and other STEM-related fields.

Grimes has been with NBAA since 2012, serving in a registration capacity before joining its government affairs team in 2020. She is the founder of the NBAA Young Professionals (YoPro) program, a leading initiative promoting diversity and development within the business aviation industry globally.

She serves on the executive team for the Runway Program, a young professionals group for the Aero Club of Washington; the DE&I Committee for the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) and is past chair of the Young Professionals Board for Women In Aviation International.

“It is truly an honor to join the Red Tail Flight Academy Board of Directors, and I look forward to impacting the next generation of aviation leaders through this transformational academy,” said Grimes.
