Michigan-based Avfuel Corporation has added Banyan Air Service to a growing list of FBOs offering sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) on a limited basis.

The delivery of 7,000 gallons of SAF to Fort Lauderdale, FL-based Banyan Air Service accounts for a 2-metric-ton reduction in lifecycle CO2 emissions, furthering the organization’s sustainability goals.

“We’re thankful to work with such a longstanding partner on sustainability initiatives,” said Joel Hirst, vice president of sales for Avfuel. “The Banyan team provides exceptional services, and we’re proud to help them provide this exclusive, environmentally friendly product to its customers to once again demonstrate that aircraft can safely fly with SAF.”

Don Campion, president of Banyan Air Service, added: “Avfuel’s dedication to business aviation and its commitment to protecting our environment is outstanding. It is an honor to be among the first FBOs to supply operators with Avfuel’s sustainable aviation fuel and a privilege to be associated with an innovative company to raise awareness and encourage further production of this alternative fuel.”

SAF took center stage at NBAA’s 2019 Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE), as many aircraft arriving at and departing from the event’s aircraft display were fueled by SAF, provided in part by Avfuel. In March 2020, NBAA and industry stakeholders will co-host a Business Aviation Global Sustainability Summit, which will focus on how to accelerate SAF’s wide-spread adoption.
