More education sessions and additional opportunities for networking are being organized for flight attendants at the 2022 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE), kicking off with a special session on Monday, Oct. 17 before the show opens.

From 1-5 p.m. that day, a pre-conference session titled, “Flight Attendant Leader/Manager Forum” takes place at the Orange County Convention Center. This forum will focus on sharing solutions to common departmental issues and workload difficulties, as well as strategies to improve performance. It will feature an open discussion and information exchange, so bring your questions and industry-related tips to share with your peers.

Other sessions taking place through the show include: “Foundations of a Successful Catering Order,” “Are You a Contract Employee?” and more.

“Most flight attendants who attend NBAA-BACE seek to expand their networks and gain the most current information to enhance their careers,” said Molly Hitch, NBAA senior manager, professional development. “This enhanced program will offer more than ever before to those in this segment of the business aviation industry.”

Christina Depew, a member of the NBAA Flight Attendant/Flight Technician Committee, also noted that, “This year we are also focusing on connecting mentors with new or aspiring corporate flight attendants.”
“We have invited many lead flight attendants and department leadership teams from various Part 91 operations and industry-leading management companies for them to interact with attendees and scout new talent,” added Young Park, founder and executive chef for First Chime Chef Privé. “This is also a fantastic opportunity for established contract flight attendants to reconnect with the community and different leadership teams for professional development.”

Networking Event

Also taking place during the convention, after a three-year hiatus the Flight Crew Mix & Mingle returns and will be held Oct. 18, from 7- 11 p.m. at the Crystal Ballroom in Casselberry, FL.

Organized by Park and Depew, and sponsored by NBAA and others, Flight Crew Mix & Mingle 2022 is expected to be twice as large as the last pre-pandemic event held at 2019 NBAA-BACE in Las Vegas.

Registration for Mix & Mingle opens Sept. 18.

“The event addresses a desire by flight attendants to meet new people and companies to expand their professional network,” said Park. “However we also are open to anyone who’d like to network if they are part of the operation, including dispatchers.”

Any person who attends an NBAA convention, conference, seminar or other program grants permission to NBAA, its employees and agents (collectively "NBAA") to record his or her visual/audio images, including, but not limited to, photographs, digital images, voices, sound or video recordings, audio clips, or accompanying written descriptions, and, without notifying such person, to use his or her name and such images for any purpose of NBAA, including advertisements for NBAA and its programs.
