Sept. 10, 2019

Featuring the theme, “New Leadership Solutions for Today’s BizAv Challenges,” the Southern California Aviation Association (SCAA) recently held its 11th Annual Professional Development and Safety Seminar with a range of presentations, guest speakers, panelists and peer discussions addressing critical issues facing the business aviation community.

Among the topics in focus at the Sept. 9 event included operational safety and creating a strong safety culture in your flight department; industry leadership, career growth and life balance; and developing the talent pipeline and improving cross-generational communication to meet the industry’s ongoing workforce shortage.

“We’re addressing the issues that affect our members and the larger business aviation community,” said SCAA Vice President Tim Goulet. “That includes exploring ways to introduce younger generations now in high school and college to career opportunities on our side of the aviation spectrum, and how to connect these future business aviation professionals to longtime aviators and others to mentor and inspire them.”

A dedicated panel discussion provided the opportunity for attendees to discuss these and other industry issues, critical to their personal growth and professional success, openly with their peers. Approximately 60 business aviation operators, flight departments, aircraft management and charter companies, service providers and other industry stakeholders attended the half-day gathering in Carlsbad, CA.
