Bill McBride – CAM Fellow

Bill McBride, CAM, is a Principal Consultant with Sundog Aviation Group, with more than 45 years in aviation. He began his career in maintenance employed with New Haven Airways working general aviation products, Turbo Commanders and Twin Otters. He spent time in a small engine and propeller overhaul company, learning skills in assembly, cylinder machining, QC, as well as the propeller overhaul.

In 1979, McBride joined Airkaman/Combs Gates supporting helicopter and transient airline maintenance before being assigned to the multi-fleet Aetna Life & Casualty flight department. Rising to Director of aviation for Aetna, McBride oversaw the fixed and rotor-wing operations. In 1997, he joined The Home Depot, where he also attained the role of Sr. Director of Aviation.

McBride has served on several advisory boards, including Sikorsky, Honeywell, British Aerospace, Bombardier, Dassault and Flight Safety. He served on NBAA’s CAM Governing board, NBAA’s Maintenance Committee, Georgia Business Aviation Association (GBAA) and served as a Director of the Corporate Aviation Association (CAA).

McBride was a guest speaker at the first Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (ABACE), NBAA Leadership Conference, IS-BAO Conference, NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers Conference and ARTEX Aviation Safety & Support Safety Seminar in partnership with Delta Airlines. He served on the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), advancing educational programs, classroom aids and business planning guidance throughout the state of Georgia.

McBride played a leadership role in the 1995 Cessna Special Olympics Airlift and served on the 2009 and 2011 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) sub-committee, leading both large-scale volunteer endeavors that provided playgrounds to underserved communities.
