The best sunrise Anthony Hurst has ever seen was around 2 a.m. over the North Atlantic. The colors painting their way across that morning sky were, he recalls, without comparison. Even as Hurst continues marking milestones in his thirteen-year career as a professional pilot, it’s clear he still savors the little things. “I’ll never stop getting excited when I pull onto the runway, feel that initial acceleration that says, ‘We’re going somewhere.” The former Owasso, OK, baseball star now shares that excitement with local high school students, who he helps guide through A&P and flight schools toward sunrises of their own.
