Bad weather, mechanical issues or other circumstances beyond a pilot’s control may cause the cancellation or postponement of a trip, which can understandably upset passengers. But, there are ways to have these sometimes difficult conversations without being confrontational. “It’s inevitable in the business that we do that not everything will occur exactly according to plan in all instances, and coming up with options is extremely important,” said Mike Whannell, CAM, chief pilot for Jack Henry & Associates.
