NBAA welcomes the recent appointment of founder and Chief Executive Officer of Robotic Skies Brad Hayden to the FAA’s Drone Advisory Committee (DAC).
“NBAA is thrilled to know Brad will be participating in the DAC,” said Heidi Williams, NBAA’s director of air traffic services and infrastructure. “Brad is well-known in the business aviation community for his selfless participation in industry groups and was a key impetus in the development of NBAA’s Emerging Technologies Committee.”
Hayden, who currently chairs the NBAA committee, is a well-respected industry expert. His company – Robotic Skies – has been working since 2014 to ensure safe integration of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) into the National Airspace System, focusing on the repair and maintenance of unmanned airframes and their associated systems to accomplish that task.
“Safety is the key factor,” said Hayden. “The public is used to an incredibly safe airspace and we have to be sure we continue that legacy with emerging technologies aircraft.”
Hayden has extensive experience representing the industry in standards organizations such as ASTM International and other groups, and said he looks forward to serving that role on the DAC.
“We need to pull what the driving needs are from the industry and bring those to the DAC in a format that aligns with the committee charter,” said Hayden, who is one of 12 new members serving a two-year term in the 35-member committee.
“NBAA has participated in a number of DAC subcommittees and related initiatives and is now pleased to have Brad represent the industry in the full committee,” said Williams. “Infrastructure, maintenance and hardware are critical aspects of safely implementing UAS into the National Airspace System. Brad brings that unique perspective to the table.”
The NBAA Emerging Technologies Committee focuses on UAS, advanced air mobility, commercial space and other innovative and future technologies and associated infrastructure.
