Final Update Oct. 12, 2018

There is a small TFR that only impacts 4 airports – Tyndale AFB (PAM), Port St. Joe (A51), Apalachicola Regional (AAF), and St. George Island (F47). It is fairly close to the ground in order to dissuade “sight-seers” from interfering with the rescue and recovery efforts along the shore. The current FDC NOTAM number is 8/2036 and includes all the details regarding accessing the area. Additionally, the ACA NOTAMs, or Airspace Coordination Areas have been issued. While not restrictive in nature like a TFR, the ACAs will encourage pilots to “exercise extreme caution while operating in these areas due to ongoing current rescue operations.”

We still have a few closed airports listed on the FAA OIS page. The FAA is still working on assessing the damage done in the wake of MICHAEL. Many FBOs were significantly impacted by the storm as well, so please call your FBO and confirm that all required services are available. You might also inquire about getting out of the airport once you arrive, some of these areas have been devastated by the storm’s passage.

NOTAMs are your best source of information regarding airport, equipment and facility status as well as details on any TFRs or ACAs.

While we’re no longer expecting any reroutes due to MICHAEL, the Current Reroutes page would be your best source for both REQUIRED and recommended routes.

NBAA-BACE Travel Advisory:

On Friday the 11th, we’re expecting minimal impact along the east coast, with the exception of a couple programs in the New York metros (LGA, JFK & EWR) due to winds on the back side of the cold front that passed on Thursday. With MICHAEL offshore, the only issues related will be numerous New York Oceanic airspace route closures.
